Frequently asked questions

Quick answers about Show Remote.

A screen card says Offline. What do I do?

Check the TV is on. If it's showing live TV or the TV's home screen, open the VenueOS app from its app list. The card goes back to normal within a minute.

I cleared a blackout and an old slide came back. Why?

Clear after a blackout restores whatever was on screen before it. Tap Clear once more to return the screen to its normal playlist.

Why don't all my screens have a Live TV button?

It only appears on Philips TVs with a built-in tuner, and a manager has to tick it on per screen in the Device tab.

Who can open Show Remote?

Anyone with the link, unless your venue has set a Show Mode PIN. Set one in Signage Settings if the link gets passed around.

I made a new slide but it's not a chip on Show Remote.

Move it into the Show Mode folder in Media. It appears within a few seconds, no refresh needed.

Does Blackout turn the TVs off?

No. The screens stay on and show black, so they come back instantly when you clear it.

Someone changed the channel with the TV remote. Will Show Remote still work?

Yes. Tapping a slide, Clear, Blackout or Live TV in Show Remote always switches that TV straight back to what you picked, even if someone used the TV remote in between. Show Remote never pulls a TV off the channel on its own - only when someone taps something.

Can our tech use a Stream Deck?

Yes. Generate a key under Settings → Show Remote API and give the tech the link. They add it to Bitfocus Companion's Generic HTTP Requests connection. See Stream Deck (Companion).

A Stream Deck button does nothing.

Open the base URL followed by
status
in a browser. If it says
invalid API key
, someone has generated a new key, so update the Base URL in Companion. If it says
no match
, check the screen or slide name against the status list.

Someone has the API link who shouldn't.

Settings → Show Remote API →
Generate new key
. The old link stops working straight away. Then give your tech the new link.
